An A-HEC Leadership Interview with Andy Scibelli

Volume 1, No. 4, Article 1

The Role of

Entrepreneurship

Programs in the

Community College

How can higher education create better opportunities for students? Skills training to obtain employment is one way, but how about teaching students how to be more independent?

In this article A-HEC interviews Dr. Andrew Scibelli, obtaining his view and advice on the development of entrepreneurship programs at the community college level. As a first mover in this area Dr. Scibelli provides insights in to how far things have progressed in the last ten years and where they may be going.

With President Bush's policy initiative on workforce development in the community college, it's time for all community colleges to consider if there is a role for them to play. Entrepreneurship programs potentially provide a way to create greater value for students, employers, and communities.
