IT in Higher Education: There Must Be a Better Way - 6
Summary

A move toward the open enterprise is best accomplished by a series of planned steps, each step having a concrete relationship with the institutional mission and a measurable outcome. A roadmap that describes a way of going about this process begins with four fundamentals:

  1. Identify critical missions
  2. Relate those missions to their Information requirements
  3. Assess the Information requirements in terms of an open framework
  4. Implement and measure

The last step assumes that the arguments for using an open framework have been made.

The intention of this paper is oriented toward coordinated, cooperative action, requiring agreement. All points and arguments can only become useful when higher education decision makers get together, make corrections and finally agree.
